The Community Security Service (CSS) was founded on an idea long held by Jewish communities around the world: protecting Jewish life and the Jewish way of life starts with Jews taking ownership of their own security.

CSS’s mission is powered by tens of thousands of trained community members and active volunteers—from college students to parents and congregants—who protect hundreds of Jewish institutions and events every week.

Now recognized as the nation’s leading community-based security organization, CSS provides professional-grade training and coordination. This empowers ordinary Jews to keep themselves safe and to serve as security and safety volunteers, helping to protect Jewish institutions and events in their community. Formally incorporated in 2007, our ethos is based on a century of Jewish self-defense in America - dating back to the anti-Nazi protests led by Jewish War Veterans on the streets of New York in the 1930s.
