Buckshot

Shotgun ammunition with fewer, larger pellets.

Buckshot loads larger pellets — #000 Buck through #4 Buck — originally for deer and now widely used for defensive shotguns. A typical 00 buck 12-gauge load contains 8–9 pellets each roughly .33" in diameter. Buckshot delivers far more terminal energy than birdshot but is correspondingly more dangerous to anything beyond the target.
