Holster

A device that retains and protects a firearm while carried, covering the trigger guard.

A holster must do two things: retain the firearm (it stays put when you move) and cover the trigger guard (nothing can press the trigger while the gun is holstered). Kydex, leather, and hybrid designs all work; soft fabric pocket holsters that don’t fully cover the trigger guard are dangerous and not real holsters.
