The portion of a long gun braced against the shoulder.

The stock is the rear part of a rifle or shotgun, traditionally wood, now also polymer or aluminum. It positions the firearm against the shoulder and provides a cheek rest for sight alignment. Adjustable stocks let length-of-pull and cheek height be tuned to the shooter.
